چکیده

Aim: The present study was carried out to determine the protective potential of Lycopene enriched tomato extract (LycT) against hepatic and renal damage caused in mice by dexamethasone administration.
Study Design: Male LACA were randomly divided into four treatment groups (n=6-7 animals per group) depending upon they received. Group I (control) served as control orally administered with olive oil (vehicle) thrice a week for five weeks. II (DEX) intraperitoneallly (i.p.) at dose 5 mg/kg b.w. on alternate days three III (p.o.) LycT IV (LycT+DEX) co-administered according above mentioned regimen
Results: Dexamethasone evident from disturbed histoarchitecture, deranged levels organ function markers (alkaline phosphatase, serum glutamate oxaloacetate transaminase, pyruvate total direct bilirubin, urea, creatinine) enhanced level cell (lactate dehydrogenase) oxidative stress (lipid peroxidation) markers. Increased blood glucose level, decreased glycogen along inhibited activities enzymes involved glycolysis (hexokinase, phosphoglucoisomerase) indicated altered metabolism DEX group. mitigation histoarchitectural alterations, markers, improved ramped up antioxidant defense system induced ill effects.
Conclusions: These results point towards beneficial effects tissues mice.

Protective Effects of Lycopene and Tomato Extract Against Doxorubicin-Induced Cardiotoxicity
The protective effect of tomato extract and lycopene on acute doxorubicin-induced myocardial toxicity was evaluated in mice. Doxorubicin toxicity, induced by a single intraperitoneal injection (15 mg/kg), was revealed by elevated serum CPKMB and histopathological observations. Tomato extract (1.2 and 2.4 g/kg, i.p.) and lycopene (1.7 and 3.5 mg/kg, i.p.), prevented the rise in serum CPKM...
